Here’s how you can connect with your friend better:

Intentionally speak up

Your friend may dominate the conversation, especially in theoretical discussions. Make it a point to intentionally speak up about your thoughts and feelings.

Get to the gist

Don’t delve too much into the details. Tell your friend the gist and then let your friend ask you the questions instead.

Don’t take your friend’s words personally

Sometimes you may feel your friend’s words are offensive or insensitive. Try not to take it personally – your friend is more likely to be dealing with the issue.

Don’t take the discussions too seriously

At times your friend just likes debating or discussing – nothing needs to come out of it. Don’t take it too seriously, and just let the discussion happen.

Be open to change

Your friend is likely to make changes to plans and directions based on the available information. Be patient with the change.
