ESFJ Personality

Extraversion, Sensing, Feeling, Judging

This section ESFJ Personality gives a basic overview of the personality type, ESFJ. For more information about the ESFJ type, refer to the links below or on the sidebar.

ESFJs are sociable, energetic and responsible individuals. They enjoy organizing resources to achieve their given tasks on schedule. They are conscientious and responsible, not easily missing details and at the same time considerate towards people. They are tactful, sensitive and caring towards people, often putting the needs of others ahead of their own.

"Is there something I can help with?"

ESFJs value their relationships highly. They are warm, thoughtful and feel a sense of duty for the well-being of their loved ones. They are highly loyal friends who will stand by their friends and family in times of need.

Often, when they perceive that help is needed, they will go ahead to extend their hand, even though at times none was asked for. This is one source of disappointment for them: They expect likewise from their peers but often don’t see it reciprocated.

Being super sociable, ESFJs have a wide business and acquaintance network. They have a great desire for harmony, and will avoid conflict, sometimes even necessary ones. When hurt or offended, they tend to keep resentment to themselves rather than confront the situation immediately.

"Let's see what has worked before."

ESFJ have a practical and realistic attitude. They prefer dealing with facts and tangible evidence above abstract ideas and theories. They have a good emotional memory; remembering not just events from the past, but the emotions associated with them. This is why they often find it hard to move on from past relationships. When processing new information, they tend to be slow and methodical.

This is because they are checking the new information in the light of their past experiences. Hence, they tend to trust established processes and tried and tested routes more, distrusting new and untested ideas. This makes them appear to be inflexible or rigid.

"Let's get it settled, shall we?"

ESFJs are organized and planned. Their schedules are usually full with social appointments and business meetings. Their finances are planned well, and they likely budget their money carefully to be spent responsibly. Sometimes their desire to organize their time and other people may get on others’ terms, who feel ESFJs are overbearing or imposing.

"I'm not good enough."

Their Thinking (T) is the weakest of their mental functions. This means that under stress: their intuition function may come out in an undeveloped or a childish manner. They may become critical of themselves; questioning their competence when being put under excessive pressure.
