ENTJ Careers
and Work Styles

ENTJs have a strong desire to command and direct, which means they often gravitate to positions of management in companies. Highly ambitious and goal-oriented, ENTJs love an intellectual challenge at work and will push themselves toward excellence.

They are strategic and innovative, viewing things from a macro perspective. They are quick to devise creative solutions to existing problems, but will often leave the details of execution to their staff.

In their work, they are structured, planned and organized. They want their interactions with their colleagues and clients to be businesslike and official. They do not like to bring in their personal life into work and neither will they allow their personal emotions interfere with a business decision.

Top ENTJ Careers

Before you get to the top career suggestions, it must be stressed that all personality types exist in all occupations.

Due to other factors involved such as interests, geography, salary and working hours, most individuals do not end up in occupations that ideally fit their personality.

However, if you are in a job or career that is not suitable for personalities of your type:

  • You may experience difficulty communicating or agreeing with your co-workers.

  • You may find communication issues arising in the course of your work.

  • What you deem to be important in a job may not be in sync with your colleagues; hence, the use of your personalities’ strengths in the course of your work MAY NOT lead to promotion or reward.

  • Because you do not feel your work is valued, you may experience stress, dissatisfaction, burnout and lack of productivity.

When you are applying or considering a new job, consider looking for organizations that are known to have:

Progressive and Fore-Front
ENTJs enjoy being part of organizations that are constantly changing, innovating and pioneering, especially those that possess potential to be leaders in their field. Through some internet research and word-of-mouth, you should be able to determine if the firm has a drive and desire to attain industry leadership.

ENTJs are drawn to organizations that offer clear opportunities to be promoted. Consider management associate programs in big organizations. It would also be good to discover how long employees stay in their current position before promotion and ensure that it is to your satisfaction.
